From North to South

Amy's ramblings. Once upon a time these ramblings pertained to my 5 months in Guatemala and Honduras. Then they followed the ebb and flow of my final semester in Alaska. From there things really went south ... to Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. After 8 months in the Andes, I fell back under Alaska's spell … working at a newspaper and wandering mountains. Now I'm somewhat south again ... in Jackson Hole, WY, teaching ski school on the clock and making fresh tracks off the clock.

Mission Statement

The other night I was perusing my personal journal and came across a mission statement I wrote it 2007. It read:

Focus on writing and media. Ski whenever the opportunity arises. Learn glacier travel. Visit Joanna. Dream big, think big, act big -- always appreciate the small.

I have yet to learn glacier travel, but I will at some point. Otherwise, I've by in large lived this mission statement over the last few years. Inspired by finding this passage, I decided to write a new mission statement:

Live simply and fully, experiencing moments. Show patience. Ski and run to my heart's content. Allow spiritual thinking to be part of my daily outlook. Always appreciate the people in my life. Communicate honestly and openly. Take time to be. Find ways - big and small - to give of myself. Dissolve ego. Focus on writing, editing and documentary making. Never forget to sprinkle life with a healthy dose of purple. Make home a cabin in the mountains. Realize that you can do anything, but not everything. Grow roots and wings. Embody light and love.

Feel free to hold me to it!

As always,

Amy
