From North to South

Amy's ramblings. Once upon a time these ramblings pertained to my 5 months in Guatemala and Honduras. Then they followed the ebb and flow of my final semester in Alaska. From there things really went south ... to Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. After 8 months in the Andes, I fell back under Alaska's spell … working at a newspaper and wandering mountains. Now I'm somewhat south again ... in Jackson Hole, WY, teaching ski school on the clock and making fresh tracks off the clock.

Beautiful Berthoud

The skiing was just that good ...

A couple of days after going up to Berthoud Pass in Colorado with my folks ... I trailed a friend and his buddies back to the same area ... it was a crew of rowdy tele skiers who like big lines ... and I was challenged to keep up ... in a good way ... we skied from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. without much break ... but with a whole lot of smiles!

We carved turns into two big bowls (that I would only drop into in the most stable of conditions), did a good bit of ski schwhaking (short for bush whacking) through a dense forest and finished off the day on The Knuckle ... knarly looking chutes that sluffed when we ski cut the top ... quite the day!
