From North to South

Amy's ramblings. Once upon a time these ramblings pertained to my 5 months in Guatemala and Honduras. Then they followed the ebb and flow of my final semester in Alaska. From there things really went south ... to Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. After 8 months in the Andes, I fell back under Alaska's spell … working at a newspaper and wandering mountains. Now I'm somewhat south again ... in Jackson Hole, WY, teaching ski school on the clock and making fresh tracks off the clock.

Random contemplations

In Spanish class this week (yep, I'm taking more classes, five hours everymorning, it's great) my teacher shared this poem with me written by Sor María Inés de la Cruz. I really like it and thought I would pass it along.

En perseguirme "mundo"
¿que te interesa?
en qué te ofendo
cuando sólo intento
poner belleza a mi entendimiento
y no mi entendimiento en la belleza

Translated...

In persecuting me "world"
what is your interest?
in how do I ofend you
when I only intend
to put beauty in my understanding
and not my understanding in the beauty

Note: Sor María Inés de la Cruz wrote this during the Spanish Inquisition
